Honest answers about what silk can (and can't) do.

1 case if you want to try silk on your own pillow first. 2-pack if you sleep with two pillows or want one on and one in the wash (you get a free scrunchie). 3-pack is the best value per case and comes with a free scrunchie and silk eye mask: one for you, two to gift, or a set for the whole bed. For most hair, yes. Silk is far smoother than cotton, so your hair slides instead of rubbing every time you turn over. Less friction means less frizz, fewer knots and a blow-dry that lasts an extra day. It won't change your hair type, but it stops your pillow undoing your work overnight.

This is where silk helps most. Coloured, bleached, grey and thinning hair is more fragile and snaps more easily from friction. A smoother surface means less rubbing on those weaker strands. Silk also soaks up less moisture than cotton, so it's kinder to dry, porous hair.

We won't promise that silk erases wrinkles; no pillowcase can. What it does do is cut the drag on your face overnight, so you're likely to wake with fewer pillow creases, and they fade faster. Silk also absorbs less than cotton, so more of your night cream stays on your skin instead of in your pillowcase.

Real silk. "Satin" is a weave, not a fibre, and most satin pillowcases are polyester. Looth is 100% mulberry silk, 19 momme, with silk on both sides of the case (some brands only put silk on the top). It has a hidden zip so the pillow stays put, and it's machine washable on a cold, gentle cycle.

Silk is a natural, breathable fibre that feels cool to the touch. That's different from cheap polyester satin, which can trap heat. Many hot sleepers, including women going through night sweats, find it more comfortable than cotton.

Not really. Pop it in a mesh laundry bag and wash cold on a delicate cycle with a gentle or silk detergent. Skip bleach, fabric softener and the dryer, and line dry in the shade. That's it. The hidden zip keeps your pillow snug inside.

51 × 76 cm (20 × 30 in) fits standard and queen pillows. 51 × 66 cm (20 × 26 in) fits smaller pillows: if yours is under 64 cm (26 in) long, go small.
